Some of the best advice I ever received came from my mother, no surprise there.
One day, as I lamented to my mother the struggles of being a young wife, "he doesn't do this," "he doesn't do that," etc…, she looked me in the eye and said, "Do all you can do to make our marriage work. If it doesn't work, you walk away with a clean conscience."
She's my mother! She's supposed to take my side! But, alas, and to my benefit, that statement made me take a good look at myself.
The result, my husband and I celebrated our 26th wedding anniversary July 7!

My mom gives the best advice but sometimes we need to be pushed. =) You have a huge accomplishment with a marriage lasting 26 years so far, especially in this day and age!!
